Founded in 2004 by Sherlin Chan and currently led by Derek Tam, Star Valley Children’s Choir (SVCC) provides quality choral music education to children in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Currently based in South San Francisco, the choir rehearses on Saturdays. Our three levels that provide a comprehensive music education. Choristers learn vocal technique, music theory and sight-singing through a graded curriculum.
Singers explore a wide range of music, including traditional children’s songs, Broadway and popular tunes, as well as the Western classical choral repertoire and songs from other musical traditions.
Choristers of all levels have numerous opportunities to perform throughout the year. In addition to twice-annual concerts, SVCC choirs frequently perform at various events, including conventions, festivals, benefits, and media appearances. Singers are also invited to participate in domestic and international tours. SVCC choirs have won awards at multiple competitions.
